Winning Against the Wet Season
Water is the natural enemy of metals and electrical systems. Pre-monsoon preparation is vital for both cars and motorcycles.
1. Tread Depth is Non-Negotiable
Tire treads channel water away from the contact patch. If your tires are bald, a layer of water will form under them, causing aquaplaning—a complete loss of steering control. Replace tires before the rains begin.
2. Weatherstripping and Seals
Check the rubber beadings around car doors, windows, and the trunk. Cracks or shrinkage will let water leak into the cabin and ruin the upholstery.
3. Dielectric Grease for Bikes
For motorcycles, apply a small amount of dielectric grease to battery terminals, exposed wiring harnesses, and spark plug boots to seal out moisture and prevent shorts.
4. Wiper Fluid Optimization
Fill your windshield wiper tank with a dedicated cleaning solution, not just plain water. Road grime combined with rain creates an oily smear that water cannot easily clear.
5. Avoid Deep Water Clogging
Never drive or ride fast into standing water. For cars, water entering the air intake leads to hydrostatic lock—destroying the engine instantly. If in doubt, turn around.
