Preparing Your Bike for the Rain

Monsoons bring relief from the heat but present unique challenges for two-wheeler riders. Slippery roads, poor visibility, and waterlogging demand that both you and your bike are prepared.

Check Your Tires

Bald tires are extremely dangerous on wet roads. Ensure your tires have sufficient tread depth to channel water away and maintain grip. Consider switching to wet-weather tires if you live in an area with heavy rainfall.

Brake Inspection

Wet roads significantly increase braking distance. Ensure your brake pads have enough material and the brake lines are in good condition. Drum brakes might need cleaning to remove accumulated mud and grit.

Chain Lubrication

Rainwater strips away the lubricant from your bike's chain, leading to rust and premature wear. Clean and lube your chain more frequently during the monsoon using a high-quality, water-resistant chain lube.

Electricals and Wiring

Water and electricity don't mix. Check all wiring, switches, and the battery terminal for any exposed areas. Ensure all lights, indicators, and the horn are functioning perfectly, as visibility is drastically reduced during heavy downpours.

Riding Tips for the Monsoon

Always maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. Avoid sudden braking or sharp turns. Wear bright, reflective rain gear to stay dry and visible to others.
